Jackbox Party Packs: A Must Have in Party Gaming
posted on June 26, 2017

From the makers of the old classic, "You Don't Know Jack", comes three different party packs available on steam, now on sale by the way. Each pack has a variety of party games that you load on a main screen, then each person plays it through use of their personal phone or tablet (or whatever else has a modern browser), by going to jackbox.tv and punching in a name and the code shown on the main screen. With these games, hilarity absolutely ensues.

Update on WereDragon: Both the Game and the Novel
posted on January 11, 2016

[Update] It's now more likely that I will seek a publisher instead of launching on kickstarter for the game.

First, the board game. Before that, I should call your attention to the right side of screen where one can sign up to be notified of the kickstarter, when things finally get to that point.

Now, about the game. I recently started using a new trial version of Adobe Illustrator and have been creating new graphics. Things are looking so much better than they have before. But of course you don't have to take my word for it, since you see all the images right in front of you:

WereDragon Melee - Bittersweetness of Good Feedback
posted on November 17, 2014

KS Cover
As I've mentioned, I've been developing a tabletop game called WereDragon Melee which I will plan to relaunch on kickstarter. I recently joined the Gameboard Developers Guild in Salt Lake City. Last Tuesday, I had the opportunity to have them test it. The feedback was immensely valuable, which of course means having my work cut out for me, but that's a good problem.

I went ahead and did a blind test with them, where they had figure out the game on their own, using the rules. I, of course, clarified things they obviously wouldn't know, such as what the prototype pieces in the bag correspond to what components referred to by the rules. I'm glad I did the blind test. I overhauled the rulebook due to what I discovered.

WereDragon Melee Kickstarter Postponed
posted on October 20, 2014

Thanks to all those who've helped support my WereDragon Melee board game on kickstarter. However, the time has come for me to cancel the project for the time being as I gear up for a bigger and better launch in January (more specific date TBD), utilizing what I've learned from this one to be more prepared for success. So let's do this! Blow it out of the water in January!

WereDragon Melee Progress 2
posted on September 08, 2014

Here's where things are at now, regarding my WereDragon Melee tabletop game, launching on kickstarter Oct 7 (SPREAD THE WORD and join the facebook event).

First, I've had more opportunities for game testing and refining, ironing out the kinks. Things are coming along.

I'm getting a quote from a different manufacturer than the one I was originally looking at. The first one was good and reputable, but not really a good fit for kickstarter projects.

The new one I found will allow for 500 minimum order which is much better, allowing for a substantially lower goal, though I'm still waiting the quote. Also, they provide a warehousing and ordering service which will make getting games out so much easier than if I had to do that myself. They do prototyping too, so I wish I found them earlier.

Fortunately, this is a company that moves much faster with the quoting process than the last one, so my kickstarter can still be on schedule for Oct 7.

I mentioned in my last post that I'm making a tabletop game called WereDragon Melee inspired by my WereDragon stories. I plan to launch a kickstarter for it Oct 7.

Things are coming along. I hired a sculpture to design the game tokens. Her sketches are promising. I completed more of the artwork for the different components, increasing in my photoshop skills as I do so.

I've done some game testing mainly with my roommate and some of his friends. I'm recognizing now that perhaps the most thing that needs to happen between now and Oct 7 is much more extensive game testing.

I'm contemplating how to most effectively reproduce the tiles for the game so that I have more prototypes to work with for testing. The prototype I currently have was cut out by hand, extremely tedious. I'll look into what services copy shops have and that to make this more efficient.

In the meantime, regarding the WereDragon novel, I've got people looking into it for professional editing. They are kindly and willingly offering me their services for free after learning about my circumstances. So very generous of them.

Board Depiction
I'm making a tile based game inspired by my Weredragon stories. In this game, you battle to the death to be the last WereDragon (or dragon animorph) standing. Choose from eight breeds, each with a special power. It'll support 2 to 8 players.

UPDATE: I'm pulling the plug on this, because I now feel my time would be better spent on bigger ideas now that I have experience with using Unity. This was a good training project.

First off, I'm shifting the focus of this site a bit. In conjunction to being about my writing, it will now also be about games that I develop.
